The Prison Doctor: Women Inside   by Amanda Brown

Much the same as the original book, but now based at Europe’s largest female prison, where we learn that almost all of the inmates are women who have been forced into a very hard life, and many find prison a great respite from the realities of the world. Some of the stories are truly brutal; entire lives of torture. Again, the author’s voice is quite flat, and while she describes situations and some events very well, there is little literal flair in the writing and one leaves without having a true sense of what it is like to work in a prison.
