I read this one straight after being enthralled by the Colour of Magic. It continues the hilarity (and the storyline) the original novel kicked off, but halfway through this book I suddenly felt saturated, and the second half became quite a grind.
I know Terry Pratchett often manages to find humour by re-treading well-worn paths, but the bit where the ground opens up... that takes the biscuit for me. I left Terry Pratchett alone for a while after reading this one, and return to this author only when I feel desperately in need of cheering up (usually after having read a boring, heavy tome and feeling wasted). |
