Look to Windward   by Iain M. Banks

Read: 2000-01-01 Reviewed: 2004-04-04
Re-read factor:
Iain Banks' biggest novel so far, describing many different cultures on several (very) different worlds. Some of them are so imaginative they have not even been seen on Star Trek!! There is also some good science fiction, although if you have already read most of the other Culture novels you will find nothing of great surprise (this was actually the very first of Iain Banks' books that I read).

As is becoming the standard with this author, the book errs occasionally to silly fantasy, but the interplay between the actors is tangible making the whole novel plausible, despite the incredibly broad canvas on which it is painted.
