A Scanner Darkly   by Philip K. Dick

Read: 2000-01-01 Reviewed: 2004-03-28
Re-read factor:
A book of inhuman imagination. There is a banned substance called `D' (for Death) which isolates the two halves of the cortex, and eventually kills the addicted user. A police investigator finds himself taking the stuff to trace its source. The rest of the book could only have been written by someone on dope...

It is fascinating to read something which goes far beyond your own powers of imagination and description, and in many ways it takes you to the ultimate alternative reality. It is also a tad scary.
